Within the Pokéball: The Poké-Rights Council
Committee Description
Ever since the invention of pokéballs, Pokémon from all over have been treated as property rather than our partners. Following the public release of Mewtwo's horrific history of experimentation, the public presses for policies to be put in place to protect all Pokémon. In response, a committee of trainers, gym leaders, coordinators, and professors alike formed to create what is now known as the Poké-Rights Council. The delegates of this committee, representing members of the Council, stand to challenge the “norms” of Pokémon partnership. Delegates will debate on the morals of Pokemon capturing, training, trading, as well as the future for all pokemon trainers in the niches represented in both the Council and society. It’s clear that Pokemon are essential in a functioning society, whether it’d be a Machamp on a construction site or a Clefairy in a Pokemon Center. Delegates must discuss whether pokemon should be compensated for their labour as well as systemic injustice in organizations. Additionally, In the days following the Mewtwo files’ release, there has been increased activity in illegal organizations such as Team Rocket. Now, dear delegate, how will you catch this issue before it evolves out of control.

Meet the Director
Noveen Roy
Hi everyone! My name's Noveen Roy; I'm also known as the Matcha Man or the Bean Guy in various groups and settings, but I love MUN with all my heart. I'm currently a grade 11 student at Monarch Park CI, and began my Model UN career last year, attending way too many conferences to be healthy (over 10). Anyway, aside from MUN, I love baking, filmmaking, and reading (holy performative), but I also love watching shows. The Pokemon anime is one I've grown up with my whole life, and is the basis of this committee. I hope y'all enjoy!!!
