World Health Organisation (WHO)
Committee Description:
The World Health Organisation (WHO) is a United Nations specialized agency that manages responses to global health challenges and crises. The WHO was established in 1948 with its universal goal of maintaining effective collaborations and targeting medical emergencies.
Topic A: Mitigating The Global Health Impact of Adolescent Vaping
Adolescent vaping has emerged as a significant universal health concern, with rising usage rates driven by nicotine addiction, targeted marketing, and social influence. As more adolescents worldwide adopt these new trends, the long-term effects are becoming increasingly prominent. As delegates, you will develop solutions that mitigate these subsequent effects, including but not limited to cancer, lung inflammation and withdrawal symptoms.

Topic B: Ethical Considerations of Emerging Healthcare Technologies
The world faces a new frontier of ethical challenges as the healthcare industry evolves, from the use of artificial intelligence in medical procedures and diagnostics to the development of wearables and mobile health apps. Although these creations have the potential to increase human life expectancy and improve patient outcomes, they also bring up important issues regarding privacy and reliability. As delegates, you are urged to discuss these complexities in order to guarantee the ethical and dependable global adoption of emerging technologies.
Committee Director

Lydia Liu
Hey delegates, my name is Lydia Liu and I am currently a grade 10 student attending Oakville Trafalgar High School. I am thrilled to serve as your director along with your other dias members Jason Lee and Martin Liu. When I first stepped into the journey of Model UN in grade 8, I did not realize how big of an impact it would have in my life. WHO has always been one of my favourite GAs -- so stepping into the director role of the WHO committee at MARKMUN 2025 is an honour for me. Outside of Model UN, I enjoy playing piano, violin, and flute. Whether it's leading events, diving in the Model UN world, or pulling the occasional all-nighter, I love putting energy into things that challenge and inspire me. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at anytime!
