The Final Waltz: Order of the Illuminati
Committee Description:
It’s 1784, and you along with your fellow delegates have been brought together by Adam Weishaupt, a law professor at the University of Ingolstadt. Weishaupt, ever the bold thinker, has decided to create a secret society dedicated to separating religion from governance to create an “enlightened” Europe that isn’t dictated by the rules of the Church. He called his grand project the “Illuminateorden”, the Order of the Illuminati. To spread their ideologies, the Bavarian illuminati had a range of methods such as censoring religion in media, infiltration of high society events, debates, intellectual gatherings, and potentially evening balls. These 19 years of work have unfortunately brought your society to the brink of its collapse, with a ban of secret societies looming over your heads, and internal disputes that jeopardize your ability to work collectively. Will this be the Order of the Illuminati’s final waltz, or is there room for one last dance?
Topic A: Stop the Music
Out of fear of the power and influence the Order of the Illuminati and other secret societies are starting to hold, the Bavarian government is contemplating a ban on secret societies. This would force any secret society across the state to disband, records to be seized, and imprisonment to its most influential members (you!). Delegates will have to find ways to avoid this fate by putting an end to the Bavarian Government’s worries, and convince them through whatever means you deem necessary not to follow through with their new order. After all, you do want to leave a mission half done, do you?
Topic B: It Takes Two (or More) to Tango
As the Order of the Illuminati closes in on their second decade, tensions begin to arise in the direction the society wants to move forward in. Questions emerge from your most vocal members, debating what exactly the society wants to improve (education, political/societal reform), how they choose to go about it (public stunts or behind the scenes work), assessment of your fundamental ideology, and if you should expand your recruitment demographic from the ultra-wealthy. The many points of contention leading to the downfall of the Illuminati. The society is in dire need of an agreed upon set of ambitions and ideals, which will be essential to combatting the ignorance of the Church as a unified front. Failure would only mean the dissolution of your Illuminati.
Committee Director

Ryo Kumar
Hello Delegates! My name is Ryo Kumar and I'm honored to be serving as your director for The Final Waltz: Order of the Illuminati. I attend Parkdale CI for the IB Programme, where I'm also president of the coolest mun cult - I mean club - to exist! I've staffed for conferences before, at both TMUN and MarkMUN, so I'm grateful I finally have the chance to run my own! The Order of The Illuminati is meant to bring together my love of historical crisis with the engaging elements of heist, conspiracy, and betrayal, and I hope to make the experience thrilling for you too. Be hyped though, because all the committees at MarkMUN are some of the most creative that I have ever seen! I'll end this with a huge shoutout to my amazing staff, and all the wonderful and hardworking staff at
