 Global COVID-19
Response Committee

Committee Description:

In March 2020, the whole world froze. This led to a year of lockdowns, debates, and distrust among every nation and its people, companies suffering financially, nations struggling with addressing the virus. In this committee, you will take on the role of world leaders, scientists, CEOs, and international officials as you all respond to the threat of COVID-19. Every choice, from lockdowns to addressing the economic crisis, will affect the whole world as we know it. Delegates will shape or shatter the real-world timeline of events across the months of chaos, vaccine creation, and political transformation. Will the world unite under the threat of the pandemic? Or will it fracture under the pressure?

Topic A: Vaccine Development and Distribution
This topic focuses around the development of vaccines, along with approving them and distributing them in safe and efficient processes. The topic will be focused around equitable access, pharmaceutical difficulties, and political issues regarding the creation and distribution of these vaccines.

Topic B: Upholding a Stable Economy

Most nations are in lockdown; with that, economies begin to grind to a halt. The topic will focus on crafting a global and domestic strategy to prevent economic collapse, focusing on balancing stimulus packages, job protection, and handling long term consequences that the virus will inflict on the economy from shutting down the world.

Daniel Zakarenko

My name is Daniel Zakarenko, and I have the honor of serving as Director for the Global COVID-19 Response Committee. I began Model UN in September 2024, and since then have had a lot of experience and fun doing it. I’ve always enjoyed taking part in specialized assemblies, as they are a perfect mix of both worlds, taking all the good from crisis and GAs and making a fun and enjoyable experience for all those who take part in it. COVID-19 is something that has impacted my life, and I am excited to be running a room around such an important topic. With this committee, I want the delegates to have a chance to steer history into a bright future, even under threat from a pandemic. Some stuff about me: my hobbies include football, gym, and reading historical fiction. I hope you all enjoy this committee, as I intend to give it my all in making it a fun and interesting experience for all delegates who wish to participate.
